MRCC Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard after a report
of an inflatable dinghy drifting off Heacham. After
locating the first informant, the Coastguards observed
the empty dinghy through binoculars. They reported its
exact position in case of any more reports, and checked
the promenade in case the dinghy’s owner was there,
but found no-one, and returned to base.
MRCC Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard after a report
of an inflatable dinghy in difficulties about 400m
offshore. They found the inflatable, containing a
30-year-old man and his girlfriend, being helped ashore
by the man’s sister. Once the casualties were
safely ashore, Coastguards gave them some safety advice.
Out on a routine patrol, Hunstanton Coastguard was asked
by a member of the public to administer minor first aid
to a female casualty at the Sailing Club. Afterwards,
they completed their patrol and returned to base.
MRCC Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard after a report
that a four-year-old child was missing on Brancaster
beach. By the time the team arrived on scene, the child
had been found.
The team was immediately tasked to Old Hunstanton where another person was missing. This person had turned up by the time the Coastguards arrived, so they carried out a safety patrol back along the beach as far as Hunstanton powerboat ramp.

A 16-year-old kite surfer suffered a back injury when he
left the ground, landed badly and was hit by his buggy.
The position was reported to be on the Holme side of the
lifeboat station, about 15 minutes’ walk away. MRCC
Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard, who located the
casualty and helped ambulance paramedics. The Air
Ambulance took the casualty to Norfolk and Norwich
Hospital.

watercraft ran out of fuel between Heacham and
Hunstanton. The craft, with two young people on board,
was towed in to Heacham North Beach at 20:45. Coastguards
took details and checked that the pair were safe and
well.

of the public reported seeing a red flare off Holme.
Three team members located the informant at the Le
Strange Arms, and then checked Holme beach. Nothing
further was seen and the team stood down at 23:00.

fell on a boat and broke his leg. Four members of the
team attended to help ambulance paramedics. The Air
Ambulance took the casualty to hospital in Norwich.

after a boat was reported to have turned over on the
river Great Ouse. The location was given as near the
power station, but it was not clear whether this referred
to Sutton Bridge or King’s Lynn.
The boat turned out to have capsized in the middle of the river at Saddlebow, near the sailing club, with its mast stuck in the mud. The crew of two people had swum to shore and left without telling anyone. MRCC Yarmouth stood down the rescue effort, which also included an RAF rescue helicopter, two fire engines and Hunstanton lifeboat.

numbers of police and a police helicopter were on scene.

Two members of Hunstanton Coastguard gave first aid to a
man who had been hit in the face by a winch at the power
boat club.
Hunstanton Coastguard was asked to investigate a report
of a car cut off by the tide at Thornham harbour. The
driver and passengers had managed to escape, leaving the
car high and dry, and were preparing to return to their
vehicle after the tide had turned.
MRCC Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard after a report
of a kite surfer in trouble. They arrived on scene to
find that the elderly man was simply having difficulty
getting his kite out of the water.
MRCC Yarmouth called Hunstanton Coastguard after a boat
was seen drifting downriver. The police followed it until
it went aground near the point. One report said that
three people were on board. Arriving at the scene, the
team relayed radio communications between the control
room at Yarmouth, Hunstanton RNLI hovercraft, and the
police. The hovercraft crew reported a single set of
footprints leaving the boat. After securing the boat with
stakes and ropes, Coastguards and RNLI personnel searched
the marsh and the sea bank for 45 minutes, but found no
sign of the boat’s occupants. The operation stood
down shortly after 2:00 am.
MRCC Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard to assist the
RNLI with an exhausted kite surfer at the water’s
edge. Coastguards used their vehicle to transport the
casualty to the RNLI boathouse to rendezvous with a
paramedic. After a check over by an Air Ambulance doctor,
the casualty went to hospital by ambulance.
MRCC Yarmouth paged Hunstanton Coastguard after a report
of a possible missing person at King’s Lynn. While
the Coastguard team was en route for Lynn, RAF helicopter
Rescue 128 reported that the person had been found. The
Coastguards returned to base.

of distress flares off Old Hunstanton. In good visibility
and with many people about, the team searched from Old
Hunstanton to The Firs at Holme, but found nothing.
Hunstanton RNLI crew reported that a member of the public
might have been letting off fireworks on the beach.
